Great article reprinted in Alternet.org today about the inability of the Left to celebrate victory. Sure, it's a bummer to see Paul F....g Volcker back in the news, but as the article points out, would you rather see Marxist Leninist Downer-of-all Time Bob Avakian there? I mean, we can--and many probably WILL--sit around and whine about Obama's "move to the Center," as if we're all passive spectators sitting on our couches eating Fritos and burritos, getting flabby, waiting for him to save me, but.....ain't gonna' happen. We have to help him, push him, and "make him" be the best that he can be.

If I were French, I'd say that my jouissance was exploding all over the place. I'm not, though--French. The presence of two celestial beings on one stage, in one photo--well, I just have to say that my life's dreams and ambitions have finally--finally--been fulfilled. Thanks to Lorrie Smith, my high school girlfriend -- also my date for the Senior Prom at Rumson-Fairhaven Regional High School where we heard Bruce perform with his band Steel Mill in 1970--for the photo.

O.K. Despite My Deep Wisdom About Politics, I Sometimes Can't Really Understand

...people who don't really care about folks who are less fortunate. I know the psychology of it, the various sophisticated analyses of the conservative mind offered from geniuses like Michael Lerner or George Lakoff. But when it comes right down to it, a deep and sort of structurally fundamental sense that people get what they deserve, that we should just look out for ourselves, that poor people or people of color are undeserving and fucked up.....well, I just don't really get it. Most principled right wingers are not self-aware, they're not psychologically minded enough to give us a real peek into their hearts and deepest minds, but I'd love to get inside there--just for a minute.
