It's a Goddamn House of Mirrors
Yeah, yeah, one sees what one wants to see. Is it not experientially clear that Palin was Stepford-like in her recitation of canned answers---like a kid using "adult language" in a slightly uncomfortable way? Come on? Is that not something that A SINGLE FUCKING COMMENTATOR could mention? No. They analyze the performance of false selves and phony theater speaking without a scintilla of deep conviction or passion as if it were REAL. it makes me want to gag.

Hi Michael,
congrats on your appealing and beautifully designed website, and your new book! I knew I could depend on a satisfying critique if I came HERE!
We align perfectly: Here's what I wrote to a friend last night about Palin:
I can’t believe out of all the commentators on PBS only one said the emperor was wearing no clothes. They are all trying so hard to look at it from the ignorant voters point of view....I am very aware these days of how people put
sentences together .... her sentences do NOT hang together, and she repeats
rote phrases. She seems very tense, but puts on an act of “gotcha” when she hasn’t even answered the question.
Biden was masterful.
Her eyes are scary, one minute she’s smiling and all pleasant, then she puts on the serious look and the humor goes out of her eyes like she’s going to tell it to you straight, but then she doesn’t say anything cogent.
Then later:
PS Somebody sent me the Katie Couric interview (preceded by Tina Fey spoof)....so by that
standard, she did well (gag). I guess I need to know the context before I run my mouth off! --Emily

I enjoyed this article:

about trying to parse Palin's sentences.
